Jewelry Design of Ancient Egyptian

Jewellery was the symbol of wealth and power. It was also a marker then, of the social status of the Egyptians, for aesthetic adornment, and as protection from evil.

The first signs of established jewellery making in Ancient Egypt was around 3,000-5,000 years ago. The Egyptians preferred the luxury, rarity, and workability of gold over other metals. Predynastic Egypt had Jewellery in Egypt soon began to symbolise power and religious power in the community. Although it was worn by wealthy Egyptians in life, it was also worn by them in death, with jewellery commonly placed among grave goods.

In conjunction with gold jewellery, Egyptians used coloured glass, along with precious gems. The colour of the jewellery had significance. Green, for example, symbolised fertility. Although lapis lazuli and silver had to be imported from beyond the country’s borders, many other materials for jewellery were found in or near Egypt. Egyptian jewellery was predominantly made in large workshops.

From the pictures above, I realised that most of the design are full of colours. We see a deep concern on their behalf to create harmonious forms and color combinations. I can said that their skills of gem carvings (AKA glyptic art) were greater than now. Imagine that they worked under the area before machine was born and still can create such a great work.
I have to say again, they merged their life into it very skillfully. They wore jewelry not just only for showing their wealth (like people nowadays). The jewelry somehow have shown their desires, dreams, wishes (clearly) . It's a sign of their lives. I can hardly see all these things in present day.

Make-up of Ancient Egypt

According to Wikipedia, the first archaeological evidence of cosmetics usage was found in Ancient Egypt in the year 4,000 BC. They were the first who put things on faces to make them look more beautiful. Well, not only for looking good, historians insist that Ancient Egyptians’ love of cosmetics wasn’t purely based on vanity.
Men, women and children all adhered to strict personal hygiene regimes dictated by the climate, religion and social hierarchy.
So, not only women, men and children also applied cosmetics like putting oils and animal fats on skins as UV protection. As you know, most of them were workers who needed to work under the hot sun for whole day.

Speaking about Ancient Egypt's make up, you will probably first remember of the eyeliner. The Ancient Egyptian eye make up was extremely elaborate and created the almond eye look which has become synonymous with the Ancient Egyptians.

They would use a tool called Kohl pencil which was made up of lead, copper, burned almonds, soot, and other ingredients to do the eye make-up. The favorite eye make up colors were black and green. It was believed that eye make-up could ward off evil spirits and improve the sight. Even the poor wore eye make-up in ancient Egypt.

Nefertiti
Nefertiti was one of the Queen in the ancient world. This statue has been using for showing the sculpture skills of Ancient Egypt for centuries. She applied eye make-up and it made her looked more gorgeous and sacred.

Fashion of the Egytian 2

Here comes part two of the Fashion of  Egyptian.

These look more simple than Royality's clothing but the colour scheme is very eye-catching.
They are wearing animals' skin  and the design used a lot of yellow colour too. Maybe it's because they want to show that they are the servants of the gods, different from other people. I like the design of the cape reminds me of the design of nowadays and I too always wearing a jacket like that xD

Clothing worn by Egyptian soldiers
Even the soldiers are wearing very colourful armour, Itsn't it very easy to found by enemies?

Helmets
I suppose the first one is for Pharaoh.

Standards
The most special standards I've ever seen! Like what I've said in the first post, The designer merged their life into design. The human-looking standard is really interesting! Does it have the same function as Scarecrow?

Workers
Workers almost all in white. Very simple but not lack in varieties.

Hope you enjoy the journey of Fashion of the Egyptian :)
